Top Easter Recipes

Ensure your Easter festivities are memorable with some of these themed Easter recipes. Easy to prepare and even easier to enjoy, this range of top Easter treats has something for everyone.

You know all those lovely Easter eggs that everyone loves? These sweet holiday treats work beautifully with their very own nest, and by nest, I mean a chocolate and coconut nest.

Easy to make, this number one Easter recipe only requires quality chocolate to melt, plus a few tablespoons of butter and equal parts shredded coconut.

Method: Line a muffin cake tray with paper cupcake holders. Melt the chocolate and a small amount of butter slowly in a saucepan. Once the mix has melted, add the shredded coconut to the mix. Combine and mix well with a cooking spoon.

Spoon the combined mixture while still warm into the cupcake holders and shape each to create a chocolate ‘nest’. Allow them to cool and harden, then remove the paper with care and fill each ‘nest’ with miniature chocolate eggs.

Cut-away fruit in popular children-friendly shapes is an excellent way to add some healthy foods to your Easter gathering.  Simply purchase cookie cutters in shapes your children will love – such as bunnies that are ideal for Easter.

Method: Slice fruit thickly, such as watermelon, rockmelon and crispy apples, then cut these slices with your cookie cutter – and voila! Arrange chilled fruit shapes on a special platter and you have a healthy and colourful Easter treat for the kids.

Chocolate Dipped Fruit is also another fun way to add fruit to the Easter festivities. This is as easy as melting quality chocolate and dipping your favourite fruit, such as strawberries into the chocolate. Allow to cool on baking paper and then arrange on an attractive tray.

For serious chocolate lovers, nothing beats an Easter recipe twist to the classic chocolate cake. To easily give your cake an Easter theme, arrange mini-Easter eggs (un-wrapped) on top of the chocolate iced cake. How easy is that?

Easter tray bake recipes, including the iconic Hot Cross Buns can be made at home, although it’s so easy to find quality hot cross buns in store, so why spend your precious Easter baking? Instead, impress your family and friends with this quirky, delicious Hot Cross Bun Cheese Plate.

Method: Slice your Easter Buns as thinly as possible with a sharp knife. Then place the slices on a tray and brush a small amount of oil on top of each slice and sprinkle with salt. Bake for 10-15 minutes at 170 degrees. Remove and add to a festive tray of cheeses, grapes and quince paste.

Why should Christmas have all the fun? Eggnogs need not be restricted to one festive holiday a year. This hot favourite is a great Easter recipe to serve your adult friends and family.

Method: You can find many eggnog Easter recipes online, though the shopping and preparation can be quite time consuming. I suggest you buy a quality, ready-made eggnog mixture then simply add cognac and bourbon (or brandy, whiskey or rum) to the mixture. Sprinkle some ground cinnamon on top and serve with a fresh vanilla bean.
