Bed Style - On point
Posted on 28 February 2017
We've all admired those delicious, perfectly styled and ever so inviting beds in all the glossy magazines, and we are all too familiar with the everyday struggle of making our own beds first thing in the morning (or at any time of the day really) However because there is nothing more satisfying than getting into a freshly made, beautifully styled bed we thought we would share with you our secrets to creating a bed you will just want to dive into- no perfect bed making skills required!
If it's that lofty and full look your after on your bed then it is best to invest in a feather duvet and as a rule of thumb, be generous and always go up a size with the duvet and linen (bar the fitted sheet) it helps to create that plentiful look. To add in even more volume, you can fold or drape the doona in a quarter or half bed fold and then layer in a variety of pillows such as sleeping pillows, shams and throw cushions to add dimension to the bed.
EMBRACE THE IMPERFECT
We've all been there, desperately trying to drape that throw "just so" over the end of our beds… the end results rarely look right. Ironically to create the perfect bed you need to forget all those bed making skills and embrace those little imperfections that are key to this lived in, natural vibe. See you later tucking and pulling…just throw things in place and let them fall organically, keep it loose. But do get rid of sheet wrinkle's as they will play havoc with your duvet/quilt styling and get in the way of a good night's sleep!!
A sneaky stylists tip is to mist the entire bed sheet with a spray bottle lightly and smooth it out with your hands. For added lux you could use a bespoke linen spray.
DON'T FORGET THE BEDSIDE
Although often overlooked it is important to remember that the humble bedside table serves as a style counterpart to the bed. It is best to keep it in tone with your linen and as minimal as possible. Style it up with some lighting, greenery or florals and a few personal mementos…don't forgot that book that you just can't put down. It's important to always place something that inspires you on it as its often the last thing you see before you head off to sleep in that perfect bed of yours!
