Out Of Africa
Think balmy nights, mosquito nets, animal prints, cane furniture, wicker fans, verandahs, bamboo and rattan, white linen, raw timber and indoor palms.
Try a monochrome foundation using rich –toned timbers and white walls to solidify the scheme. Use regal looking rattan furniture with décor items and ornaments from traditional Africa. Use robust timber or stone, as well as hand-carved stools. When it comes to animal prints and skins, remember not to go overboard to maintain tastefulness. Use zebra or leopard prints against tarnished brass and incorporate accents of sepia for that olde worlde adventurous feel.
In art, use reds of the Empires and sandy palettes of the desert. Interiors in the tropics are typically light and airy bringing in the netting, khaki and white cotton or linen. This neutral back drop is peppered with occasional chairs, trunks and rich mahogany, that gives an African Resort Space that certain opulent feeling.
For larger items, use hardwood that will withstand the test of time and will weather really well. This classic style has been reborn into modern versions of ‘safari chic’ to inspire you to explore exotic frontiers.
