Create the perfect room for your little one with help from Petite Vintage Interiors
If you’re looking for style inspiration for your little one’s bedroom, we’ve enlisted an expert to give us top tips to help you in the right direction. Sunshine Coast based Belinda from Petite Vintage Interiors, shares her secrets to creating a stylish kids room that will work for you and your child.
Here are Bel’s suggestions:
Plan for the future! When designing a nursery, consider what the space would look like if you replaced the cot with a bed.
Consider double duty storage options. A toy chest may turn into bench seating with a couple of cushions. Give your little person plenty of places to display their treasures (which also keeps them off the floor and the room clutter free!)
I love to include reading nooks, a bean bag with a basket of books beside it or a comfy chair to encourage your child to use their room for more than just sleep. If your family loves to pile into a big chair for story time before bed, consider purchasing a larger chair in a neutral colour that could be moved to the lounge room later down the track!
Decals and removable wallpaper are amazing for renters and kids with changing tastes! They add a huge statement for a small cost and can indulge what your little one is interested in at the time. The solar system, the world, fairies?
If you do decide you need the help of a children’s designer to bring your vision to life, be sure to choose a designer whose rooms and style you love. As a mum myself, I realise while a room can look magazine beautiful, it needs to be practical and functional too.
