Harmony between human habitation and the natural world.
Organic Decorating Style incorporates exquisite furniture and decorating accessories to create a unique feel. By organic, we’re talking natural materials, timber, metal, sustainable, recycled or reclaimed composition, outdoor items and embellishments of shells, corals, leaves or hides that come from the natural world.
By definition, organic design is:
a philosophy that promotes harmony between human habitation and the natural world through design approaches so sympathetic and well integrated with its site, that buildings, furnishings, and surroundings become part of a unified, interrelated composition.
From an interior decorating perspective this translates into creating a scheme where furnishings, accessories and colour are inspired by nature, and unfold like a bloom, from the seed within.
Colour is taken from natures palette; warm earthy browns, ivories and taupes with accents of moss or foamy greens. Lines are continuously flowing without sharp edges or protruding corners, morph between function and sculpture, Natural materials such as bamboo, grasses, palm leaves, animal skins, rich grained oiled woods and driftwood, wicker, feathers, and stones will accentuate the texture of a modern-organic interior. Reinforce this texture with fabrics such as slubby natural linens, leather, wool, cashmere, angora and silk.
To enrich the “earthy” feel of your room, add lighting, sculpture, and accessories that feature organic shapes and materials and harmonise with the entire scheme, as if it were a unified organism.
