The Karoo Mirror is one of a kind piece. Salvaged from the very limited supply of antique Indonesian teak ploughs.
The Karoo Mirror is one of kind piece with a history dating back to the early days of rice paddock farming in Indonesia. Uniqwa exclusively salvage timber ploughs and reclaim them for their unique shape, making each Karoo mirror as much a mirror as a historic piece of art.
Each Karoo Mirror has been handcrafted using traditional craftsmanship. The mirror's frame had a long history as a water buffalo plough, serving the rice paddocks of Indonesia.
Please be aware that there will be a wait of approximately 3-5 months for all Uniqwa orders as goods are manufactured on demand, not in bulk. Due to the artisanal process involved, your order cannot be cancelled.
- To create our unique Karoo mirrors, Uniqwa repurpose the ploughs using traditional craftsmanship, finished with a clear lacquer topcoat.
- This product is individually hand-made, with a distinctly unique shape, elements such as texture, colour and pattern will vary piece to piece. The images shown online are representative of the supplied mirror. The shape of the Karoo Mirror's top varies between a rounded or a square top frame.
Please note that this is a hand carved and hand finished piece and as such imperfections and marks are not considered faults. Due to the often hand-crafted nature of the Uniqwa Collection pieces which are made offshore, shipping times may change.
Every Uniqwa piece has a story...
Uniqwa Collections are mostly individually hand-made pieces. As most of the products are made from natural materials, elements such as texture, colour, and pattern may vary piece to piece.
Reclaimed timbers, naturally weathered materials and off cuts otherwise discarded are frequently part of the Uniqwa design features. Natural splitting, cracking, and loss of natural oils may occur and form part of the characteristics and beauty of Uniqwa products. These are not viewed as imperfections or faults, rather part of the natural life and beauty of timber.
We believe the use of natural materials and hand-crafted elements result is a testament to the unique qualities found in materials originating from nature.
